Research Project Overview

Project: LocationAl – Next-generation location analysis using multimodal artificial intelligence approaches combined with novel geodata formats.

Research period: November 1, 2025 to April 30, 2028

Goal: Development of AI-supported analysis methods and geodata concepts, and their implementation in prototypical, prompt-based software modules for location planning.

A Powerful Symbiosis: Geo-Expertise Meets AI Data Science

The core of the research project is to combine our areas of expertise into a symbiosis. A total of 18 experts from both companies are working on the project.

Research for Practical Application

The goal of our AI location analysis project is to create novel AI-based analysis methods that make economic decisions in location planning more sustainable and precise.

We are specifically researching:

  • Novel methods and AI analysis procedures for location planning.
  • Development of previously non-existent geodata concepts specifically for the use of AI location analysis.
  • Software modules for prompt-based control of location analyses.

To achieve the following benefits:

  • Improve forecast quality: Predict location and market potential even more accurately.
  • Deep Data Mining: Uncovering hidden patterns in complex enterprise data.
  • Innovation and Standards: Setting new standards for data-driven business strategies.
  • Sustainable urban planning: Reducing vacancies in shopping streets sustainably through data-driven analyses.

The newly developed methods will be integrated into WIGeoGIS software, such as WIGeoWeb, as quickly as possible after the project ends.
